Braid, monofilament, fluorocarbon leader, wire trace and egi-specific line from Daiwa, Shimano, Sunline, Tasline, Varivas, Berkley, Power Pro, Platypus, Penn, Maxima, Black Magic and YGK. Spools from 150 m to bulk 1000 m+, in every breaking strain from 2 lb to 200 lb.

Rule of thumb: braid as your main line for anything you cast lures with (thinner, more sensitive, longer casts), mono for bait fishing, trolling and beginners (stretchy and forgiving), and a fluorocarbon leader on the end of braid for abrasion resistance and invisibility. Match leader strength to the fish and the terrain – 6–12 lb for bream and flathead, 20–30 lb for snapper and salmon, 40–80 lb for kingfish around structure, 100 lb+ for the heavy stuff.

Filter by Line Type (braid, mono, leader, wire), Brand and Target Species. Buy a reel from us in store and we’ll spool it free – use the line spool calculator on this page to work out how much you need.

Line Spool Calculator

Enter the capacity printed on your reel spool and your main line packet. It tells you what percentage of the spool to fill with backing so your main line fits.

The percentage is of the spool’s line capacity, so it’s the same whatever line you use as backing. A main line with a PE rating is measured against the reel’s PE capacity, and one with only mm against the mono capacity (PE1 ≈ 0.165mm).
