Quick guide: 2–3″ grubs, prawns and small paddle tails for bream, whiting and trout; 3–4″ paddle tails and jerk shads for flathead (the Sydney staple), bass and EPs; 4–5″ prawns and shads for snapper and jewfish; 5–7″ jerk shads and swimbaits for kings. Pair with a jig head that gets you to the bottom in the current you’re fishing – lighter is usually better.
