The Shimano Plays 4000A is a purpose-built electric fishing reel designed for deep-water and bottom-fishing applications where manual cranking isn’t practical. Built around a Hagane body for rigidity under load, it features a Cross Carbon Drag system delivering up to 15kg of stopping power — plenty for heavy reef species and deep-drop targets. The SA-RB bearings (2+1) keep things smooth and corrosion-resistant in saltwater conditions. With a gear ratio of 3.2:1, a 68cm per crank retrieve, and a spool capacity to handle heavy mono or braid at depth, the Plays 4000A is a solid workhorse for serious bottom fishers targeting snapper, hapuku, bass groper and similar species.
