The Okuma Altera is a no-nonsense spinning reel built for anglers who want reliable performance without overcomplicating things. Built around a corrosion-resistant graphite body, the Altera is well-suited to saltwater use across a range of conditions — from estuary bream and whiting sessions through to light offshore work on the larger 4000 and 5000 models. The 4+1 bearing system delivers smooth retrieves, while the RES II (Rotor Equalising System) improves balance during the cast and retrieve cycle. TPE handle knobs keep things comfortable over long sessions. The 5.0:1 gear ratio across all sizes gives a consistent, predictable feel whether you’re working soft plastics, trolling light lures or running live bait rigs. Max drag climbs from 3kg on the 1000 up to 9kg on the 4000 and 5000, making the larger models genuinely capable for chasing flathead, snapper or light pelagics.
